Antioxidants come from fruits and vegetables. In fact, five services of fruits and veggies each day can help reduce strokes by up to 25 percent, according to a recent London study. Common fruits and vegetables high in antioxidants include carrots, tomatoes, broccoli, squash, kale, sweet potatoes, collards, cantaloupe, and apricots. All of these are bright-colored, which is an easy way to remember them.

Besides fresh fruits and vegetables, antioxidants are found in nuts, seeds, liver oil, and whole grains.
